(AP) — A $100-million renovation of an Oklahoma barn was funded by a man who saved $400,000 by saving the day.
James C. McManus bought the barn in 2007 for $200,000, and it was renovated in 2012 and sold in 2014.
He paid $100 per square foot, and the total cost of the renovation is now about $300,000.
McManus said he used a computer program to find all the cash he needed to pay the bill.
He said he had $20,000 left over to pay off a mortgage.
He’s been saving for years, and when he saw that the barn was going to be renovated, he didn’t expect to make as much as he did.
McMaster said he plans to start a nonprofit to help others save.
McMean said he would like to raise $500,000 to renovate the barn.
