The Atlanta Falcons’ wide receiver wants to be able to do what he loves most: renovate his own home.
Jones is currently a free agent after the team drafted running back Devonta Freeman with the No. 4 overall pick in the NFL draft.
Jones has been with the Falcons since 2014 and has been a key part of the team’s success, playing in all 16 games this season and leading the team with four touchdowns.
He’s averaging 7.3 yards per catch and has caught 58 passes for 1,835 yards and six touchdowns.
Jones’ love for renovating his home started when he was a child.
His father, Benjamin Jones, owned a hardware store that sold home improvement products.
He and his wife, Trish, opened their store in 2009, and they remodeled the space every three years.
During this remodeling process, they had a hard time getting the necessary permits to renovate.
When the building was completed, the Joneses bought the property and moved to a house just off the street.
When he graduated from high school in 2010, Jones moved back to Georgia to be closer to his brother, whom he grew up with.
He was a defensive back and wide receiver, but also played quarterback.
He spent time in Atlanta during his time at Georgia, and he says he started seeing improvements with the renovation process.
Jones says he’s a big fan of the Falcons’ offseason program.
He also enjoys playing basketball, baseball and golf, which he has done on the property.
The Atlanta Falcons are in the midst of a rebuild, which has been ongoing for a couple of seasons.
Atlanta has made several personnel moves, including adding receivers Mohamed Sanu and Michael Turner and adding offensive linemen Kevin Zeitler and Alex Mack to a line that was already struggling.
Jones wants to take some of the work out of his home renovation, which could include building a new home for his family.
He’d love to get his own yard, and also wanted to be a part of that process.
The Joneses also plan to use the renovations to build an indoor football field.
The field is already there, and Jones says he’ll be able play on it in the future.
